What is Self-Help?

Self-Help?

What is it?

Merriam-Webster defines self-help as, "the action or process of bettering oneself or overcoming one's problems without the aid of others; especially: the coping with one's personal or emotional problems without professional help.

Have you ever needed help? I know I have. Gosh, where do I begin?

Everyone goes through seasons of change and disappointments in life. I know I have had my fair share of issues. My parents divorced when I was 9, I've been mentally & emotionally abused, I was  sexually abused when I was between the ages of 7-8 years old, I have had break ups and have been through a divorce, I've struggled with addictions, bed self-esteem and more.

I'm not the type to hold things in. Yes, I do like to be alone at times but all in all, I like talking with people or writing my feelings down. I guess you could say this is one reason I started this blog.

But I feel it's important to get out what we fear and what our issues are. You never know how you could help someone just by sharing your own story.

What is something or things you have gone through or are going through that are tough?

My Happily Ever After

On my first post in this blog I want to share a little about me. Today marks my five year wedding anniversary. This picture you see is of course myself and my sweet husband, Michael. We have had our share of problems but they never last long. We get each other and honestly, he completes my life. I am more of the random, talkative, silly spouse and he is the calm, collective and laid back spouse. I honestly, would not want to do life without him. Michael is such a strong man. He has a heart of gold. Michael and I met when I was 16 years old at a Chevron station in our hometown. It was a very random meeting and a funny one to be honest. But from that point on we became friends and dated other people inside the same circle so we were always around one another in some way. Our friendship grew and then New years 2012 rolled around and we've been together ever since. Michael proposed at the most magical place on earth! DISNEY WORLD!! It was my dream location to get engaged and Michael made that happen. (Thank you again my love!) H e popped the question right in front of Cinderella's castle.

Michael proposed on June 29, 2012 and we got married on June 29, 2013. It worked out perfectly if you ask me! Our wedding was the best night of my life. We got married at The Zone at the University of Alabama stadium and also had our reception there. It was a night we both will never forget!

For the honeymoon, we went to Secrets St. James in Montego Bay, Jamaica. (Visit their link here: http://www.secretsresorts.com/en_us/resorts/jamaica/st-james-montego-bay.html) When I saw that place is my favorite place, I'm not kidding!! It is absolutely beautiful there. We have been back twice more since our honeymoon and it is wonderful every time! I always tell Michael that when we retire, we just need to move there! haha. Everyone is so very kind and welcoming!

Michael and I have a 3 year old son who will be 4 this coming December 2018. We have had 2 miscarriages since having our son but if it's our time to have another child, then it will happen. We are each others rocks and are very grateful for our sweet little boy. He just adds so much happiness to our lives. I love my husband but the love of a child is something I never could prepare for. My son and my husband are my world. I'm very grateful to God for allowing me to have them in my life.

So now that you know a little more about me and my husband, tell me about you and your family. What is your life like?
